Confessions – When Your Body Goes on Strike Before You Do

Today my body made a decision before I was ready to make it.

I logged into work at 5:30am like I do every morning.
I had meetings. Messages. The usual pressure of showing up and being on.

And then I fell asleep.

No warning. No permission asked.

For three hours. Logged in. Completely gone.

Here’s something chronic illness has been teaching me lately:

Your body keeps score even when you aren’t paying attention.

Every morning you force yourself out of bed in pain, it notices.
Every meeting you sit through while your joints are screaming, it remembers.
Every time you push through because you feel like you have no choice, it quietly keeps track.

And then one day it decides it has had enough.

Three hours.

My nervous system basically said, “We’re done negotiating. We’re resting now.”

If your body has ever made a decision for you…

Cancelled plans you didn’t want to cancel.
Forced you to rest when you felt like you couldn’t afford to.
Pulled the emergency brake before you were ready.

You are not weak.

You are human.

And your body might not be fighting against you. It may be trying to keep you alive.
